Ok so I went to pets at home after my rant and feeling sorry for myself that my guppies kept dying even though the water was fine and the other fish were fine. The manager spoke to me and said to come and get replacement fish. I had no idea what I was going to get.
I was having a look around and saw a male fighter in really bad nick. I was about to ask her for it when she spotted him too and said he wasn't for sale and took him away. He was green and pink and was in with another male fighter. He had no tail left and was motionless
Then I was just wandering about and noticed another one. He was in a sorry state but not too bad,in the cold water section with no heater (the temp said 17 degrees) he was in the corner of the tank with - wait for it - rosy barbs. He was at the top and he wasn't moving either. I couldn't leave him and thought i'll take the gamble and take him home I always have the small 40L tank I could set up if things get messy.
So I took him. After I acclimatised him to the tank I let him free-well it was like a caged animal being set free for the first time-he hasn't stopped swimming since
It all went smoothly, he isn't bothered about the danios or tetras and they just swim around chasing each other. He's having too much fun going in and out of the plants. I feel a big sigh of relief. I managed to get him out of there and he's quite laid back-until I go near the tank and he just freezes.
Apart from that he's swimming about everywhere, past the others on his own little adventure
Here he is:
He's so pretty
