My Blue Gouramis Is Shy

I have a blue gouramis, shes a female and she is hiding and i rarely see her i wondered if the lighting was to bright as it is quite strong and i read somewhere that they don't like high lighting.

she is also the only gouramis i have in that tank it is juwel rio 180

What else lives with her? Also how much planting does the tank have? Gouramies love plenty of coverage from plants to hide in and she may feel too exposed. So saying, some do spend alot of time hiding either way. Really depends on their temperament. But they still require plants to sit in and whatnot.

How new is she to your tank? Adding plants (especialy floating) can help but a new gourami is bound to be like this and it'll take a while for her to show her more out-going nature.

The tank is heavily planted and she has been in their for six months now, maybe its just her nature

I woudln't put it down to that just yet - has she always been like this? Are you sure she's female? How big is she? What other fish are in the tank and how many? Have you changed anything in the tank recently?
Hiding like this may also be a sign of disease. It is important to make sure it is not, before putting it down to her character.
