well i have had no luck getting anything "exotic" so far. all my LFS have are CT and VT and all the CT are pretty standard. got a red CT before for my stepdad and he "cleaned the water" for it and "it died"....he didnt put aquasafe
anyways, this is my "2am walmart buy" betta. my friend gave me a nice looking CT that had been given to him and he didnt want. so to take care of it, i went to Walmart at 2am to buy supplies to turn my 10 hospital (more like holding) tank into a betta tank...and while I was at it saw this guy:
Vulcan
sadly enough, he jumped over my dividers and nearly killed the CT i had originally bought all the supplies for! his tail split happened recently after i re-did the dividers. i think he tried to jump over again and wasn't successful
today I went to the LFS right when the fish shipment came in (i asked ahead of time!) and actually got to be the first one to look at the fish, this guy was my favorite:
Zephyr
and I also got this girl. the body is white/pinkish with iridiscent fins, so from different angles they look green or blue.
Iris
she's my 3rd girl in that tank, previous ones were killed by a under-cover evil kribensis I held very dear. i removed her since the last death so now i hope Iris (and future other girls) will thrive like they should!
to answer the questions that I know will come
- the two males are in here:
- it's a 10G tank with some (7) planted, heated, 28W of 5500K lights, 20G bio-wheel filter and two airstones
- they are kept in opposite partitions, in the middle i hope to put two red cherry shrimp or something similar when I find them locally
the female is kept in my 38G community tank and she seems to have settled in just perfect
i noticed that Zephyr already had fin/tail rot when I bought him. however, I had started to treat the betta tank for it yesterday (long story...) with tetracycline so I put him in there right away. I hope that I am successful at healing him, I like him a lot
lastly, these first 3 are mine, but I also take care of (read: own) a 4th one that is my parent's room in its own 2.5G heated bowl:
Banana
can anyone tell me what, if anything, is wrong with his tail fin? i was told it shouldn't be discolored like that? i'm pretty sure that's how we got him. it's been 2 months and he's always been active, looks great except for that part of the tail and behaves like a perfectly healthy fish...is it fin rot too?
as you can see, it's VT galore! this thursday I hope to drop by a newly-discovered PetCo that stocks Halfmoons and Super Deltas...i'll be there waiting for the shipment when it comes
