Breeding Betta 005.JPG

This is my first attempt at mating my blue VT with a
very pretty copper half moon that I bought on ebay.

Put them in the breeding tank yesterday -
abit of flaring and chasing, but no nipping at all

Today he built a lovely bubble nest under the bubble wrap floating on the surface -
she has shown her breeding "bars", and they have mated several times falling from the nest
to the floor of the tank.

So far no sign of eggs - its their first attempt so I'm being very patient :good:

I really think the statistics are against me getting that many surviving to adulthood.
The female did spawn twice on this occasion, but the male obviously hadn't read the
manual properly and didn't realise that he was supposed to place the eggs in the nest.

Result - she scoffed the lot left lying on the tank floor.

I'm going to give them a couple of weeks reconditioning then try again.
Even if i succeed in geting fry I doubt that they will be that many surviving straight away.
