My Betta! :)

I got a betta today for my 10 litre tank,and an african dwarf frog! Here he is! Is he a veiltail?

Any ideas for names?

Either his tail is really badly nipped or you havent got a very good angle. I think he should be a VT

buuuuut as the others mentioned the pics are either a bad angle or you have a betta with a really ripped up tail. You should probably add some aquarium salt to the water.

or he could be a plakat with a little bit of ripped fins but I do thinnk he is a regular VT store betta. Hope he gets well soon se hal a dose of Melafix too or BettaFix Remedy if he's in the 10L

matty, really you should check stuff out--do research--before you post some of this stuff.



Yes, he is a lovely pretty boy! But betta_luver is right and all the others too. He looks very like he may have some torn up fins. Do put some salt: about 1 tsp per 2.5 usg. Disolve it in hot water first.

Keep an eye on the fins; if any pieces start to drop off or disappear, get him a good anti-bacterial treatment right away. matty may be correct also, a BettaFix treatment may be in order. The fins look as though they could be bad enough to already have a bacteria, so let us know if any fins are hanging or ragged or appear ripped and for sure if they are and get worse.

Hopefully it is just the picture angle, but some Betta will nip their own fins in transit.

Ill try and get a better pic cause it doesnt do him justice! He doesnt have a nipped tail,its just the angle.He wouldnt have got nipped at the store as all the bettas are sadly isolated in their own bags! So ye ill try and get a better pic and ill maybe add some fin repair stuff

If they kept the bettas together, there wouldnt be any more bettas at the store as they would all die from killing eachother.... and yes they could have been ripped from the place he was bred.

-nods- he looks like a VT with some nipped up fins. also, i like the pillar in the picture. i have one in with Shadow - my one pink/yellow betta and he loves it - he sleeps on it!

Some Bettas will chew their own fins in their cups and bags of transit. So just keep an eye on him. If he is a fin nipper he will require some extra attention.
