This was very odd - the other day, I noticed some poop floating down from my betta, and suddenly he started swimming after it like it was some food! He did manage to get it into his mouth, but he promptly spit it out. The next time I saw him looking at his own poop, I tried to use my finger on the outside(which he likes to follow) to steer him away until it hit the bottom. This was very odd to me, and I was wondering if anyone else's betta ever does this?!

That's not odd... I have seen it happen a few times when I'm cleaning my betta tanks. They just think it's food - and I don't blame them, looks just like a big betta pellet.

yea mine do it... i donno why they dont learn the first time..

i guess they dont really have a ''smell'' sense

Good to know my betta's not abnormal or really dumb! Thanks, guys.

i actually gave my bettas a new food today that looked like poop. over half of them ignored it because im assumkng they thought it was poop. the others eagerly gobbled it up.
