Scruffy... I think he's starting to get much better, I've been giving him peas but I have to sit there with him and hold the pea with tweezers since the peas always float to the bottom, and he can't swim to the bottom. I wish he would get completely better though! :-(
Sorry...He's pooping in this pic :*)

do they need heaters or can they survive in room temp

are they in seperate tanks ?

how many have you got?

what size tanks are they in?

soz for all the questions but im doing research on them im thinking of getting one because everyone has them on this site and they are soooo cute and colourful they will brighten up the place thanx for reading ;)

guppy-man,

They do not need heaters, they can easily survive in room temp, but heaters are not a bad idea.

Males HAVE to be separated, but a single male betta can live with a few peaceful community fish, depends on your betta.

A betta must be kept in a one gallon or more. They CAN survive in smaller, but it is cruel. Good luck betta shopping! I reccomend reading the pinned articles.

And Whiskerz, your fish are stunning.

EDIT: spelling

Well Orkybetta pretty much said it all :D

My males are all in seperate tanks, but the 2 females live in a 20 gallon.

I have 15 males, and 2 females....so 17 all together :p

my males are in 1 gallon - 5 gallon bowls/tanks

I hope you decide to get one yourself, they are great fish :D

and thank you very much Orky :D

:D yes i am going to get a betta tomorrow ive got a spare 5 gal but my room stays around 70 so he or she will be ok.
i wont get a filter ill jus do water changes alot.
ill get some coldwater plants to he or she might eat them if they are hungry.

do they like to go in and out of things if so ill buy somthing with big holes like a castle or somthing i am gonna make the tank look like somthing from a dream lol.

if i get one tomorrow and set the tank up ill show you the pics see what you guys think ok. :D

id just like to say again your bettas are beautiful lol

They love little caves to hide in and play around. Just make sure that ALL the holes are large enough for the Betta to swim through, or small enough that the Betta can't get in at all. That'll prevent him from getting stuck.

And Bettas are carnivores, so they won't eat the plants unless they are ABSOLUTELY desperate. But they do love soft, large-leaved plants like Java Fern to lay in.

Mine do. Java Fern is very commonly kept with Bettas, whether they are heated or not. VERY tough plant.

Nothing, deliberately. Both of the Java Ferns I own have been burrowing into the tank's gravel on their own. I'm trying to discourage it somewhat. Makes it harder to get the gravel clean with the plant doing that.

I suppose I should mention that Chike and Poof are especially wow, but they're all cute. :)

70 is a bit low for a betta. They do best 76-80. They are tropical fish. Freeze dried blood worms, pellets, and peas are nice foods for them. My boys looooove peas and bubble nest when they hear the microwave because they think peas are coming.
