OK my Betta is a happy little guy but he has an issue. HE WONT EAT LIVE THINGS!?! He eats everything but I gave him 2 ghost shrimps just to watch him chase them (slow day) and he simply looked at them and went to the other side of the tank. Also i noticed he hadn't touch them and experimented and put 6 zebra Danios in there. He just stares at them and doesn't go near??? I love my fish but he is like a vegetarian Betta except when i put in blood worms. My tank is only 5 gallons pretty small but there all extremely happy. I put several locations in there for them to hide and they all have there place where they live now, I also bought a black mystery snail (He hasn't moved since we got back from the store so I think hes dead) and a Plecostimus to keep the tank clean. Please help me my bettaa is reateded.

A plecostomus  You do know they grow up to 2 foot long!

How big are the zebras you put in there? I have zebras in my 10 gal and they pretty much dominate. I think your betta would rather be friends with them than eat them.

All bettas have thier own personalities. I think you might want to exchange the one you have because he might be a little "tame".

Bettas actually make great community fish, so it's not a surprise your's isn't killing the fish. I would advise you to return the pleco and danios. Danios need at least 15 gallons and common plecos need at least 100. In a 5 gallon the plecos growth will be stunted, which is where the fish's body stops growing but their organs do not; a horrible death. With the shrimp, the snail, and the betta you are fully stocked. I've had snails not move for days. I'm sure he'll start to move eventually. Dead snails small really bad.

If you want to feed your betta some live foods you can try daphnia, black worms, bloodworms, brine shrimp, mosquito larva, tubifex and white worms.

My sister's betta lived for three years! Some fish are like that, more laid back while other bettas would be all over it. PS: about the pleco, i have one and i am deadly afraid of it, so it it gets bigger than my hand, i'm giving it to my brother to uh... *take care of*
(either keep it or kill it)

why would you want your betta to go for everything?

5 gals for danios or a plec, is way too small!

Bettas don't eat fish. They eat small insects and larvae. Why are you trying to get it to eat live fish? It's a) pointless b) cruel c) not what they eat naturally anyway. It will only eat the shrimp if they are tiny or it is really aggressive. Seriously, just try them on daphnia, bloodworms, brineshrimp and the like.

If you want plecs and danios, get them a decent sized tank and stop trying to get your betta to eat them.

Yep, that's how we do it here. Buy fish we can't take care of and then give them to murderously inclined family members who are also unable to take care of them :good:

If you wanted something aggressive that eats other fish you should have got an oscar or some other predatory fish.
Then you could have the pleco too.

If you want to see fish kill and eat each other, why not get a huge 6ft tank instead and swap the betta for a school of piranha who will eat anything including your fingers!!!

Why are you scared of a pleco? They are gentle harmless fish that can't bite you and rarely attack other fish. If you don't want th e pleco you should offer it free for rehoming to someone who will love it in the Classifed section of this website ot Craigs List, gumtree etc.Every fish deserves a good home, esp plecos which have such character.

It sounds like you didnt do enough research or you would know why your betta didnt eat those.... they are to big!

Feed your betta pellets, frozen bloodworms, frozen or live brine shrimp, and daphnia. Live brine shirmp are hard to keep alive so frozen are much better.

But being bettas are carnivores unless you have live plants your pleco has nothing to eat, so get either live plants and feed the pleco algae wafers. Uneaten betta food will feed your pleco very little. The danios and shrimp will eat bloodoworms, but they may need other foods too, but the betta can happily live with them if the tank is large enough, a 10 gallon would be ideal, especially since plecos get huge.

As said above. That plec could get OVER 2 foot long!

And any plec is to big for a 5 gallon.

And Some bettas are just really easy going, some are extremely aggressive.

And I keep shrimp as pets, not food so instead of flushing them, keep them (when you get a bigger tank) They are fun to watch.
