So a few days ago I bought an 8 gallon aquarium for a total of about 100 dollars including the stuff needed to run it and it has been cycling for a couple of days at this point using fish flakes as a source of ammonia and as for the fish I plan to keep I am planning on keeping a single betta in there which should make it quite happy as I have several plants and also some floating plants and it's bigger than the smallest recommended tank which is 5 gallons I also plan to add tannins to my tank eventually which should fit quite well given these are blackwater fish.
I live at an assisted care home because of my disability being autism and ADHD making it impossible for me to manage to live on my own anymore and also due to economic issues caused by an impulsive lifestyle and ironically this aquarium was kind of an impulse buy but at least I was able to buy a tank suitable for a betta fish and it now keeps me company at night as a night light of sorts.
