Fish Crazy
Hello! I've had 6 betta fish over my life so far (I'm only 15 years old, but eh, I'm in love with the guys! and I have loved every single one of them.
I currently only have one betta fish, his name is Wendigo. If you look below, you will see pictures of them now and when I first got them. For my first two, I don't have any pictures because I was young and didn't have a camera back then. (Plus back then they only had photo's that you developed in a photo lab so.. no digital yet any ways
) You will also see a description on what I felt and why I got them, and also, if they are dead, how and why they died.
Start the count down!
1. Ghost. Veil Tail.
{Picture Here}
Since I don't have a picture, I will instead give you a description. Ghost was my very first betta. My mother got him when I was seven. He was our first fish success. He was white with yellow streaks in him. I don't remember much about him and it wasn't me who picked him so... We got him back when they just sold veil tails in pet stores, not even crowntails yet.
Ghost died from old-ish age. He died when I was nine years old.
2. Spook. Veil Tail.
{Picture Here}
After not having another betta for five years, I decided I wanted to get one. So, I got Spook. Spook was in a 3.5 gal that Ghost was in. I named him Spook because he was opaque, and kind of looked like Ghost. So in honour, I named him Spook. Spook was shy, I remember that. He never really warmed up to me. I got him because well, he looked like Ghost.
He died from bloat, and was only with me for a short amount of time (a few months). That put me off and I didn't really get any other bettas after that either. It was my fault; Spook was the first betta I had the responsibility of caring for myself, and I failed.
3. Captain Cato. Veil Tail.
One year later, I got Captain Cato. Captain Cato was an impulse buy with me and my friend. We paid $15 for the gravel, a few plants, and Captain Cato himself. There wasn't much reason to getting Cato. He was an impulse buy so... we just kinda picked one and bought him. xD When we first got him:
He died from an unknown sickness, I still don't know what it was.
4. Ranger. Super Delta.
I got Ranger because I went to the pet store and I always look at the betta fish when I go. There I saw a beautiful betta marked 'Half Moon'. It was when they first got the half moon betta fish and I was really excited. But, I didn't have the money for a betta. Three days later I went back with money. And would you look at that, the little guy was still there! I was so happy - I bought him and took him home. I named him Ranger because here in Canada we have the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, also known as Rangers. And well, I had a red and white fish, why not name him after the Canadian Police? This is him when I first got him:
Ranger died on May 26th, 2013. He died the way I got him; fins torn like he had been in a fight.
5. Nira. Female Plakat (?) or Veil Tail
Nira was my first female betta. I was determined not to be like those people who just buy betta fish because they are pretty. I wanted a girl. And so, as the determined person I was, I went and I got Nira. She had an amazing personality. And she was a fighter. I got really close to her when I got her, and it really hit hard when she died. This is her when I first got her:
Nira got ick and we both fought hard so she would live. But she itched herself and got a big gash in her side. I thought it was all good, but then her healing gash got infected and she died.
6. Wendigo (Wend-ee-go). Delta Tail.
When Nira died, I went to go and get another betta to fill in for her place. I had heard somewhere that blue bettas are more likely to be docile then red bettas, so I wanted a blue betta so it wouldn't chase my oto fish. I knew there was no guarantee that a blue betta would be nice, but it was worth a shot. At the pet store, I saw two betta fish. Wendigo, the only blue betta, and a BEAUTIFUL black, blue, and white dragon scale betta. I had to choose; the beautiful betta, or the blue betta? I ended up getting Wendigo. Here is a picture of him when I first got him:

Wendigo lives happily in my 5 gal with two oto fish and a mystery apple snail I raised since birth named Jolly Roger.
