Hi all, I'm new here and first of all this seems like a great forum. I dont know why I've never found it before

So here are my tanks. The first is a 110 litre community tank and is home to a mixture of pretty common community fish. There are albino corys, otos, rummy nose tetras, neon tetras, harlequin rasboras and some amano shrimp. I only have 2 neon tetras because their buddies succumbed to what looked like neon tera disease, and I only have 2 harlequin rasboras because their friends came down with something nasty too

The main plant you see there is leopard val. I bought 10 plants off a guy through ebay about a year ago and it has completely taken over. I like it though, its a really nice looking val and all I have to do is trim it down and pull up any new plants in the foreground. There is also some randomly placed anubias (they need tying down), some java moss (also needs sorting out), and some fissidens fontanus which I'm growing out a bit before I attach it to anything.

As for hardware, I have a fluval 104 canister filter and two 25w lights. I do about a 30% water change once a week.

Next up is my 35 litre shrimp tank. I only set this up about a week ago and took delivery of 20 juvenile cherry shrimps a few days afterwards. Everything is going well so far, although I am aware that cherry shrimps are prone to dying within a few days of being put in a new tank. I set it up to hopefully see some shrimp on shrimp action and maybe see some offspring. Its pretty bare, but that nice clump of java moss should provide all the protection they need to make them feel safe.

I'm only running a sponge filter and one 14w light in this one, so its just a nice, simple and cheap setup but it should provide quite a lot of amusement. Again, I do a 30% water change once a week.

Let me know what you think :good:

I can get them on internet explorer. Very nice your vallis tank looks too. The shrimp will do well in that setup. Once they pass the first few days they will do well and soon you should have more shrimp than you know what to do with.

Nice one! Thanks :good:

If anyone else has any problems viewing the images, let me know and I'll host them elsewhere.

nope pics are fine, nice main tank it looks very smart, so are you just having the smaller tank for breeding shrimps? I wouldn't know where to start for breeding them, I have heard its quite difficult

Nice tank, wonderful set-up, but am I mistaken or don't fulval 104/105's only filter 25gallons?

Yeah I think its something like that. I got the tank second hand with the filter and I just used it without realising. That was 3 years ago though and my water quality and parameters are always very good.

I suppose once you take into account the thickness of the glass, an inch and a half of substrate and a couple of chunks of decor, its probably closer to 25g than 30g anyway.

Apparently breeding cherry shrimps is quite easy. Just make sure they have clean water and a stable environment and they'll do the rest.

Just noticed you're from Inverness! I'm originally from near Ullapool on the other coast.
