Well i hardly ever show pics of this tank because it is very dark and thus very hard to get good pics of (flash reflects badly). I went out today and persevered and played around with the settings and got some ok shots...

Its dark but I bet it looks great when the room is dark. Is that tannis off the wood aswell that makes it look dark?

Yeah its tanins from the wood, i have about 50KG of bogwood in there! It isnt lit very brightly and ive done nothing about the tanins primarily because it is much closer to the natural habitat of the fish I have in there, but also because it means that I get to see more of my various catfish if the tank is darker. When viewing the tank there is plenty of light to appreciate the tank.

Sounds like alot right? Well it's not all staying in there. I will move a couple of fishies out when I move house.

did you set it up to be a black water tank? or is it temp due to the bogwoods?

Yeh I wasnt really fussed about the black-water. The fish feel alot more comfortable in slightly stained water and I have grown used to the look of it.

As for adding another light I really don't think it is needed as when you see the tank in the flesh the fish are perfectly well illuminated.

I got it from the shop I work at

Seeing as I am in England it is probably little use to you. I would have thought any half decent fish shop in the US would stock driftwood. If not you may be able to use wood from a local river. Just make sure it is old and dried out, and that you soak it thoroughly before use.
