Newbie, did post in the new section but I got a couple of photos so I'll post a new one here. I was a regular member a long time ago on a few tropical forums but my PC went down and lost so much info.

So far my tank is a 5' x 2' x 18", I have my own made 3D backround with two large pieces of Bogwood, also have a plant on each growing successfully ( dont know the name of the plant but I am not doing anything special ) Anyone know the name feel free to let me know :) Thinking of getting some Java Moss as I have read it needs almost no attention and grows well. Would like it a little more greener BUT I wont be going down the plant in the ground route as I think that is way beyond me in time and effot. The lid is home made, done it yesterday and just need to varnish it. As for light I have nothing special.

On the 3D that I built ( must have been 18 months ago ) it now has covering here and there of green, must be Algee, no problem with it as it makes it all look more natural. Also even after all this time the water always goes Tea colour because of the large amount of Bogwood I have, I know the previous owner had the wood in there tank for a few years. Still I'm not bothered as I think it still makes it all look real, a few people who dont know about fish say "why is it not crystal clear like in the pet shop" lol...

Fish wise I have:
2 x Talking cat fish ( never see them )6-7"
4 x Gourami's 4-5"
7 x Albino Bristle Nose 3 years old
2 x Firemouth about 2 1/2" 1 year old

Just today added:
2 x Ram's
6 x Glass Catfish
6 x Cherry Shrimp

I cannot see any of the Shrimp anywhere, must be hiding or got munched on, maybe I need to add about 30 at one time.

CO2, not sure on. The pet shop had a kit with a spray canister that is desposable for about £12, was thinking of this and then maybe getting a bottle of CO2 welding gas as it would be much cheaper to replace.

Cheers,

Do like the plant, grown from a cutting of a friend and then took my own cutting and grown again on the left log. Would like to help them grow more so my need some CO2 advice.

Just a quick one, how many posts before you can start PM'ing people?

I've never had much luck with it, but I've only tried to grow it in brackish water. It's a beautiful plant, but I don't know much about growing it. Best of luck to you.

Cheers,

I'm going CO2 DIY very soon..... Well as soon as the pop bottles are empty.......

I've posted a few questions in the Plant section but no replies as of yet but more I look into CO2 more I think I know what to do.

4 x 2L bottles & a catch bottle ( it is over 350L tank )
1 x Air stone under the external filter
1/2 kg sugar in each bottle ( 2kg in total )
Just under 1 table spoon of Yeast in each mix.

Not sure if I have to mix it all up, give it a shake at first.

Really liking your setup :good:

Keith.
