What ya reckon?

What should i incorporate into my new setup. Will be running Dual T5 lighting in the new tank and more plants will be added to create a natural look. Any fish suggestions? Current List includes

Tetras
1 Balloon molly
Common Plecs
3 Yellow Labs
10 Danios
1 elephant nose

Thanks

The green and white plants on the right hand side are dracena, a commonly sold as aquatic, house potplant. Take it out or it will start to rot.

Oh and yellow labs should really only be put in a special cichlid tank, as they require very hard water. They shouldnt be with neons as they are quite aggressive. They will also out compete the elephantnoses for food.

Maybe, but the yellow labs are thriving in the tank, growing quick, always happy, no aggresion to ANY of the community fish, wheather its neons, danios or the molly, and the yellow labs are fed during the morning hours, whilst the elephant (being a predominantly nocturnal specimen) is fed blood worm when the lights go out and is also thriving, so not too worried yet

Thanks everyone for the POSITIVE comments

I love it mate nice and simple with some really nice fish. I would be tempted to do the same and mix some baby chichilds in with a community tank just to find out what the actual outcome would be over a decent period of time. Shame there is no more room in my current setup

You asked for opinions and i gave you mine thats all.

Labs need hard water, and one way or another at least one species will eventually suffer as a result of it, the sma ewith the aggression, they might not be aggressive now but they will become more so as they mature.

The yellow labs look fantastic, I think I'll read up on them, wouldn't mind keeping some. Update done some reading Hanny is correct the yellow labs are malawi cichlids, I have never kept these fish but I am wondering how they can survive in relativly low ph.

sorry but i have to agree that is not a good setup for yellw labs , these need to be kept in an entirely different setup with other malawi / mbuna

Thankyou. I really dont think it's the best idea to keep them with the rest of your stocking.

the impending upgrade is the ideal opportunity to take the tank in 1 direction or the other , it would make either a lovely malawi setup or a great community tank , but unfortunately the 2 just dont mix .

nice overall tank! love the wood! but a bit worried about the labs being mixed with community fish and the water hardness

Okay guys thanks for the comments. After a few "critiques" i have decided to use the upgraded 70G tank for a malawi based residents, and keep the 20 G for the community, will post new piks vids etc

Another thing, will the Yellow labs thrive with pseudotropheus Demasoni?

They should be okay though, you need to up the numbers of both species though, recommended numbers of pseudotropheus Demasoni is 12 :/

ive seen it done before , mixing labs and deasoni , but it bear in mind that demasoni can be extremely agressive .
