Hi all,
My albino oscars have been acting really aggressively toward each other over the past month. For over 2 years they have been perfect together, I thought I'd been lucky and got a pair, around 5 month ago they would dig towards 8-9 pm and ward of any passing fish or even people (lol) now they blow there throats up and even lip lock. One seems to have the upper hand in the pecking order. I don't know wether to wait it out or try and rehome one if they continue as scales are missing and fins are slightly damaged.

My question is do you think they could be a pair? Or same sex and they are needing there own space (there n a 120 gallon juwel)?

Also what should I do in either scenario?

Thanks

Hi welcome to the forum :)

Oscars are not that monogomous so it may be that they have fallen out and it is the same as having 2 non breeding oscars in the tank and at 2 years old I imagine they are big old beasts :D

A general rule of thumb for Oscars is 75g for 1 and then 150g for 2 then 50-75g before the third - other fish can work in these sizes though. But then again some Oscars end up in solitary confinement....

If its only been a few weeks maybe give them a few more weeks and see if they calm down - do you have a second tank you could transfer one of them to?

Please post pictures. I'd love to see them!
Even in a bigger space it could be just as fatal, it'll end in just more space to fight over.
Perhaps they're re-establishing alpha? Although a month is a long time..

Oo-er tricky one!
