My 125l Community Tank

Gorgeous mature male pearl, he's got some lovely fin ray extensions.

If you can fit them (couldn't see your tank size listed) if you get him a couple of lady friends he'll show even nicer colours! :good: My boy colours up amazingly when he's trying to impress the girls...

The stocking is as follows in 125L:

5 Yellowtail Rasboras (I think Rasbora tornieri or daniconius)
2 male guppies
1 redtail wag platy
2 female juvenile BN common plecs (which will be rehomed when they grow up)
1 mature male gourami

My initial plan was to rehome the yellowtails and get some Black Skirt Tetras (about 5). But I would love to get a couple female pearl gouramis. I'm going to have to think about it as I don't think they'll all fit in the tank.

YOur tank has come on really nicely! Sorry to hear you lost both the rams :( What is your ph and gh of your water? I only ask as I am hoping to get some rams soon myself and know them to like softer water. I have some bog wood in my tank which has helped bring down my hardness levels.

Your gourami is very stunning too :D

Have I skim read and missed what make your tank is? I only ask as my 125L is a Fluval Duo 800 Deep and yours looks similar :D

Very nice set-up :D Personally I'd say lower the amount of bubbles per second (note the first picture), but that's just me, nice tank regardless :) :) :)

Don't worry PRW1988, that first photo was from when I first set the tank up and was cycling it. I have a 12 inch airstone and a pump capable of airating a tank 10 times the size of mine. I don't use the airstone at all anymore as the noise from the pump does my head in. And with the number of plants and the movement I've got on the surface from my filter the fish have plenty of oxygen.

jennybugs, I don't actually know what brand the tank is. I got the tank with quite a lot of bits and bobs of eBay from a bloke in Acton. Only paid £60 for the tank, stand, gravel, heater and all sorts of other things. I know the lid is from Peak Aquatics so it's likely the tank is as well. But I do know the dimensions are 90cm x 50cm x 30cm. Which as you can see fits perfectly in the living room.

Regarding the hardness of the water and the rams...I can't remember. I was using the 5 in 1 test strips from API at the time. All I know is that the water was very hard. I must admit I don't do much to "condition" my water when I do a water change except add some API Stress Free. My main concern has always been on keeping the nitrates/nitrites levels good. I'm still a beginner. Perhaps taking some water to your LFS and seeking their advice would be the best thing to do. But they are great fish and if I keep the tank as a community tank then hopefully one day I'll be able to get another pair.

That's just what I was going to do actually  Your tank is almost made to measure for that space I have to admit :good:

Did a little waterscaping......

and I might get some new fish this weekend
