This is my first tank

Wash the gravel 3 times but it was cloudy

The dust was starting to settle untill i started to decor the tank :D

I went a bit overboard but I like it :D Will look into planted plants for my next tank just want to learn about fish for now

The water has cleared a good bit since the picture. But still seems a bit dark. Is this due to the stock light in the juwel 120 or the tank not having a wallpaper? Thinking about geting one of those mightnight glow lights or superday time ones.

Any idea on what type of wallpaper to lighting things up a bit?

(the revamp I changed gravel to sand)

personally i prefer not to put a backing on because i feel like it distracts from the fish but i think a plain blue one would look nice like they have for marine fish because it seems to bring out the fishes colours :)

Hey guys little update. I desided to reowrk my tank

Changed from gravel to Argos play sand and some real plants. I have more on the way :)
The Argos sand was a complete joy to use and very cheap!!!!!! I also found it 60% easier planting the plants I have

Water is clearing up very fast btw should be crystal in a day or two

Tank is now clear :) Argo playsand 4tw

I might add some real rocks and a big peace of bogwood instead of the bonsie tree, Or mybe try and grow some plants on it??

I was going to suggest painting the back of the tank. Since i did the first tank, thats all i will do now. It looks ace and never have to wrry about it coming loose and creates a perfectly flat background to see the fish and tank better. Blue or black would be the best coices prob... I go with black. But you have the fin already so this prob isn't the best to do now, especially cause you can't to the back of the tank. But, I recommend trying this the next time you move the tank or set-up a new one.

Just make sure you use paint made to adhere to glass... I believe acrylic is the type you need. oil and latex paints will not adhere

wow Bob, what happened to your hair? And the same shirt you wore everyday? wait... arn't you dead?? haha

your tank looks lovely :good: great first go! i would personally have gone for a black background because of your red walls. i also think that black intensifies fishes colours.

thanks guys :)

In the end I desided to change the gravel to sand as I wanted corys and I Heard they love to play in the sand.

Yeah Am keeping my eye out for a nice big bit of bogwood.

Am so hooked on fish tanks now. I want to start a Lake Malawi set up second tank. But that on hold going to be a dad in 1 and a half weeks :)

My stocking plan so far is 120L
8 zebra Dinos
7 Black neons
2 honey gourm
1 Krib
4 Corys
Some ottos

would this be overstocked? If not would like to add 1-2 small schools

thats not over stocked at all. you could even get more corys if you wish? and maybe another krib if you wanted to. a male and female would look good and i beleive you may have the space for them to breed without causing any damage to any other fish. but i'm not sure on that one, and i heard they can get a little aggressive during breeding.
nice tank btw :good:

Ugh Well I was forced to remove the real plants. They kept rotting on me and was to much cleaning as i have a new born 2 weeks old. I will be going fully planted modded lights co2 ect when I have more time :)

I also replaced the jewel filter with a eheim classic 2215 and it really open the tank out.

I left the big space in the middle so corries could enjoy them self's. I Really really wanted the jewel rock background but it was going to cost £50 pounds for two bits!! and that £50 pounds towards a new tank

How are you finding the play sand? I heard it tends to set solid in tanks (hense why some people preffer aquarium grade, stays loose).
