I would like to add a few more in there but not to sure what to add?

Tank 2

Is currently housing

2x drawf gourmis
2x clown loach
cicilds

Both of which are going to new homes as the other tank is being set up for cicilds hence all the rock caves *dont know what to have yet*

Any ideas on how to change it or what maybe to house in the tank would be very much appreicated.

whats the size of the second.. personally first one seems cool as it is..
the 2nd one i would maybe go for some dwarf puffers and maybe some BN plecs.. depends on size really...

The second tank is just over 3ft long and just under 2ft wide not to sure about the height. Our other tank is quite empty now as we have to rehome all the Barbs as i was miss informed how nasty the little mites could be  :grr: :grr: :grr:. That will teach me for going to pets at home.

The second tank i wanted some dwarf cichilds in the tank I was looking at no more then 4 of them and maybe 2-3 corys but i'm not to sure now. As i keep changing my mind about what i want to stock in the tank. Im also changing that nasty cover paper at the back.

Why not make the smaller one a shrimp tank or instead get a oddball like a dwarf snakehead :hyper:

Ive had shrimps before and they freaked me when i had to go water changes and it would run at you and do werid things. I called it a hardcore shrimp as it had a massive shell like a cockroach on it .

Unless anyone can show me pictures of shrimps that dont look like a gaint cockroach. Woohoo ive just looked at the snakehead can they live with other cichlids?

the ram may need taking out of the main tank and putting into a tank with more suitable tank mates...rams must be kept in a temperature range of 28-32 degrees, suitable tank mates would be:

ember tetra
cardinal tetra
sterbai corydoras
schultzie corydoras

Nope the shrimps dont really tank my fancy to be honest, im a little put off by the one that i had before it was a GiANT  .

With the ram could i not ajust the temp in the tank to a little higher as it run around 26 at the moment even though i have turned the heater down, the light seems to warm up the tank. I just didnt think the ram would like the other tank as its more full of caves, rock etc? And could the ram maybe live with firemouth, cookcoo cichilds? And if i was to buy a snakehead drawf would like go with that kind of mix or would i have problems?

* I did it i went out and brought just one cherry shrimp for our community tank at lunch and i can say im love with the little thing not that bad when you look at them in the flesh.

I also got a bumble bee goobe i love these little fish. Also just a butterfly plec for the other tank as they do a good cleaning job, this one has already started.

reply regarding the rams-

i would move the dwarf gouramis into tank 1, and rehome the clown loaches, i would then put the ram into tank 2, and find out what sex it is, and then find it a possible mate.

then i would add suitable tank mates that will be okay with the high 28oC temp, also i would add plants too!
do you know the volume of this tank? (tank2?)

i would go for a pair of rams
a shoal of either cardinal tetras or ember tetras
and a shoal of corydoras sterbai or schultzie.

I have rehomed by Barbs, 2 clown loachs, and 2 male gourimis.

I now have in my main tank:
1x cherry shrimp
2x chcoloate gourimis
4x tetra - some got attacked by barbs lesson learnt there
2x penguin tetras
2x corys

The second tank which is around 90 litres or just over i think we measured it at. The tank has:

1 x butterfly plec - thats all for now as not to sure what else to have as still looking around

Thats all in there for now. The Blue ram is a boy as we had it sexed ages ago and have been looking for mate but then i didnt want them to breed and cause problems with other tank mates. I also have been speaking to a local fish shops i use and they said that the rams dont need to be that high in temp. Mine has been fine in there at around 26-27. So i dunno if it would be ok to leave him in there and maybe get another but not to breed.

I do have quite a few plants in that second tank you just cant really see them, i was also concern with cichilds as i was told most of them would kill my plants!

I really do like the firemouth and that is somethink that i would like to have 2 of in that tank along with other things.

fish shops will tell you that...because no one is aware of the temperatures these fish require, ask tigerissey, andywatson, nmonks...theyll tell you the same, all of the sources on the net are out dated.

Ok.

I will keep this information in mind while i decide what i want to run in each tank. As i said above i wasn't to keen in keeping the ram's in tank2 because of the type of lay out that i would be running in there.

I also need to know if i can stock firemouths and Ram's together? And also if i couldn't could i maybe keep a shoal of 4 rams in tank 2 or would that be a tight fit?

Plants wise can i use what i have in tank1 them kind of plants and moss balls as the other fish seem to like having a nursery of plants to hide in and play etc.

Thanking you

Jemma

After spending 2 hours this afternoon going around fish shops looking for that perfect fish to add to the second tank. I spotted this in our LFS and fell in love with it instantly  :hyper: . See picture below:
