ok so im getting ready to do a water change and i descover my 10 has 2 long cracks!!! the fish that are in it is 1 spotted dojo 2 head and tail lights 2 lemon tetra 2 glass fish and 1 skunk loach!! i was thinking about double filtering ym other ten and puting all of these in my other 10!! here is what is in that one 1 female betta 2 blck mollies 2 ottos 1 pleco (he is 2 inches i think) 3 cories 2 snails and 3 mollie fry

would it work until later when i can go get another tank?? i wish i had a sick tank!!! *sighs* what should i do?!?! i have a 5 gallon bucket that i can fill up ALL the way and attach the 10 gallon filter to that...

my 10 is currently filled up half way cause i didnt know what to do besides lower the water level to below the cracks!! ( i was wondering why the water level was slowly dropping)

but yea this is my situation and these are the options i have:

1: move all fish to other 10 gallon and double filter it
2: put some in 5 gallon bucket and attach filter to that
3: move velvet (my dieing betta) into a 1/2 gallon critter keeper and put some fisn in my 2.5 tank!
4: i dunno this one yet you guys give me an option!

im suppost to be gettin a 30 gallon today... but it hasnt gotten here yet and from what i have herd i may not get it until saturday! yikes!

Hi daudy_dojo :)

I would suggest RUNNING to the nearest lfs and buying another 10 gallon tank. Then just move gravel, filter, fish and everything into it. If you have recently vacuumed the gravel, the move should go well.

Even if you are getting a bigger tank at the end of the week, the $8 or so that it will cost will be well spent since it can then be used for quarantine, breeding, housing fry, etc.

An extra 10 gallon tank is a great thing to have!

If the tank is holding water for now I would take half of the fish out of cracked ten and put them in the other ten. Then I'd go to the lfs buy a new ten and set it up.

that is jst it i cannot buy another tank they cost like 17 dollars down here in texas and my dad isnt home and its a 30 minute walk from my house and i have no ride!!!

Hi daudy_dojo :)

You will be way too overcrowded if you put them all in the other tank. Double filtering will only help so much. I think you will need the bucket too, if you must move them.

There is another thing to consider too. The beneficial bacteria in your gravel must be kept alive if you plan to use them to seed your new tank. This requires the presence of fish, and that's why I suggested getting another tank.

Because you will be starting up a much larger tank than the one you are presently using, it will be helpful to move as many of the existing beneficial bacteria into it as you can. If you move it into the other tank, and/or bucket, you will be reducing the already limited water available for the fish in them.

well i was just told this "you arent getting the 30 gallon because we need it right now" THAT BLOWS!!!!! so yea what can i do?? im so confused!!! im trying to trade my old computer for this other 30 gallon but its not going so well!!
