Tanks been getting murkier and murkier. So on day 7 of the EI dosing I did a 50% water chage, which too an hour and a half!!!!! doh
Anyway, still murky, its kinda very slightly green too, mainly whats laying on the surface.
Plants are growing a treat, they wont stop, had to do some trimming today.
I know its prob a bacteria bloom, but thought it would have started to ease off by now.
Any ideas, or just wait. Fish are all fine.

Yes its probably green water or the start of it, this is going to be a difficult one for you as the cure normally involves a 50% water change (the difficult part as you found out earlier when you have a 175 gallon tank) then you do a 3-4 day blackout depending on how bad it is and another 50% water change at the end, and after all of that you must ensure that whatever imbalance is corrected.

Now the way around this is to buy a UV steriliser, this will avoid the need for the huge water changes and it will cure the bloom, i believe they are dirt cheap ATM on ebay for UK purchasers i think £30-40 quid each, but even if you go this route you need to find out what caused the bloom and try and correct the reason behind it.

The steriliser is obviously the easiest way to go but it will cost money and time to purchase the equipment, you could try a blackout for a couple of days if the bloom isnt that bad, do it longer if the bloom gets worse, also clean your filter before you do a blackout if you go the water change route.

Have you any ideas on how the bloom was triggered what type of imbalance? it can also be triggered by ammonia or an ammonia spike so do a test if you have a kit.

No idea what did the bloom. All levels are ok.
just kinda started to happen slowly when lights went on.
I think a UV sterilser is the way to go.
Then ill have it there for back up in the future.
