In her wisdom my Mother switched my filters off to 3 of my tanks last night, they have been off for approx 9-10 hours. Will all of the bacteria been lost??

I am just going to my Uncle's to get some tank water and also some filter media to put into the filter to give them a kickstart. Anything else I can do??

aww love her
you probably wont have lost it all, just add the media and check the water daily for spikes etc and WC accordingly.

( put a sticky on the plug.. do not turn off)

you will be fine, mine sometimes goes off when we have powercuts and ive been fine, if you have externals then there is plenty of media and it will have stayed wet.
i would just keep an eye, i wouldnt put any 'uknown' media in with my lot, god knows what it might bring to the tank. Diseases can lie dormant for ages so even if your uncle hasnt had any recently, they may still be there or he might not have noticed a small infection. i would risk putting it in with mine, but hey, its your choice :good:

I know what you are saying Nick and thanks for the advice. The tanks I have set-up were actually using cloned tanks from my Uncle anyway so they are pretty much the same tank anyway. I used media from him initially also so pretty sure it should be OK. Just done a decent water change on 2 of the tanks and the other one has WCMM's in with an additional powerhead running so hoping that one will be OK. Going to do a water test tonight and keep fingers crossed. I will let my Mum know your replies and that she can relax a little bit! She did offer to pay for any replacements if needed and then I tild her the cost of my Corys........

Mothers hey, can't live with 'em, but I personally couldn't live without mine!!!!
