I am a former aquarist who is just getting back into the game after many years. I am in the process of setting-up a 72 gallon tank. I am about 2-weeks into the process, so it has not fully cycled. The tank is heavily planted, in addition to some wood & interesting rocks. I started with 6 zebra danios, which certainly add comic relief. I have recently added 5 male dwarf gouramis (they are so beautiful!). I was going to finish the tank off with some cardinal tetras and a cleaning crew after 4-5 weeks. It is hard to ask a fishes opinion. Will these male gouramis live long & happy lives without females? Is the gourami/gallon ratio OK.

Don't see a problem as long as the tank is really 72 gallons (and not 72 ltrs), and there are enough different territories and features that break up their sightline.

Thanks for this info. The tank is ~60 imperial gallons (72 US)
