someone asked me a few days ago to post something on how i set up my male tank, so here you go a small tutorial, sorry btw im not very good at this kind of thing,
as a side note, this you could also use this as a breeding tank,
what you need
15G tank at least tall or wide
heater 55W or 30W, (55W is better as you can get the heat upto 80 without any problems, the 30W you need to set to max and it still wont get to 80 though it will be above 74)
1 or 2 frames with detachable GLASS (make sure it is glass not plastic, note that your going to have to play around with this, to get the size of the glass right)
2 small bull clips (stainless steel try for as they will rust, DO not put anything on the clips to stop them from rusting, if you cant get S-steel you can still do this though you will have to
keep the water down a little lower then the clips and change them out every month or so)
optional
100W external filter, or a small internal filter (the tank dose not get too dirty though you still might want one, as a note with this the internal filter takes up allot of room, the external one is best for this)
gravel (if you have a filter do not put in gravel, there is little room for the water to move, and this will block it up more)
plants fake or real (i use fake plants though i would think real ones would work also, as long as you had something to hold them down with lol)
lighting (not that i have much though it is a good idea, looks cool also lol)
ok, first remove the glass from the frame or frame's, this can make 2 or 3 zones.
after you remove the glass from the frame you can place it into the tank, if you want just 2 zones, you have to place the glass in and hold it to the tank walls and down flat on the ground,
take the 2 bull clips and place them onto the glass and tank like so,
make sure that the clip is over lapping the glass so it will hold tight, this is done on both sides of the glass,
if you want 2 zones to your tank then,
take the glass and push it up to the corner of the tank walls, so that 1 side to the glass is in the center of the tank, and place the clip shown above,
take the other sheet of glass and place it to the other corner of the tank, and again place the clip, after you have done this your tank should look like this,
when placing your heater, put it on one of the glass sheets near the middle of the tank, this is so that both zones will heat,
and now, your done.
the glass is not very good with allot of heat, so dont try to boil it, you should run it under hot tap water before placing it in the tank, though be very careful when cooling it,
once inside the tank the water will heat slowly so it wont crack,
let the tank cycle for a good wile, then you can start moving your bettas into the tank
this is safe for pretty much any kind of fish and any kind of tank size though the bigger the tank the bigger the glass, mine is a tall 15g tank, though it is pretty cheep lol,
tank care,
without a filter you should do a water change every now and then, with a 15G tank i find best to change the water by 25% every 2 or 3 days
try to keep the water around 80F with betta's
PH dose not get too high though if you know how to keep a eye on it
DONT try to move the glass wile you are housing anyone in it,
dont boil the glass
dont dip the clips into rust remover if they are not stainless steel get new ones, they only cost around 1$
NOT SUITED FOR SNAILS, they can and will get out, as you need to leave some space for the clips,
