Hi all,

I currently had a well established 200litre aquarium with an internal canister filter. Due to the ugly sight of this inside my tank and the extreme hassle of cleaning an internal filter I'm moving to an external one, I've ordered an Allpondsolutions 1000EF, as the reviews seem to be good and it's cost effective. This is the first time I've used an external filter and i wanted to know what's the best way to set it up and get it cycled? do i run both filters concurrently for a while so the bacteria is moved through the new filter?

Sorry to be such a noob, but i'm clueless when it comes to externals

You dont need to run 2 filters just put the sponge with all the media on in your new filter. Thats all i did just today. I have the out and in pipes at other ends of the tanks

OK, that sounds nice and simple enough. Cheers!
