Ok Betta fans, help me out here.

You can see what I have in my sig. Well, the story is, having been made redundant at Christmas it's getting a bit tough now and will have to start economising real soon unless something gives.

What I was thinking was to shut down and sell the Betta tank and move the stock into the community tank? I know the old tetra's are possible fin nipper's but what do you think? To be honest, old RedBull hasn't been himself lately. I mean he's healthy enough and the stat's are (as always) spot on but I think he is plain bored dispite having a great lay-out

the tetras are iffy but in all my fish keeping experience ive never known neons to be nippers

Likewise....when I used to have guppies in there they never bothered them

I'd divide a small area off for him too. That way he will be safe and you will still be able to go ahead with your downsizing plans. Even if you only divide a 2-3 gallon area for him :)

Nice idea but not practical to divide the tank. It's all or nothing

Hi

Now, normally I may say......"No".....but, having seen Doresy's numerous posts on here and other sections of the forum I believe him to be a very sensible kind of guy :D I am sure that he would be very vigilant, and at the first sign of trouble would sort it out. Its an unfortunate situation for anyone to be in, made worse by the current economic climate.

I would say, maybe float "Redbull" in a breeding net, in the corner of the tank for maybe a week. This may, and its only a may, encourage Redbull to consider that corner his. Its worth a try.

Anyway, what ever you do Doresy I hope it goes well :good:

That's a real possibility bronzecat...... and as suggested by Truck' I would keep his old tank running by leaving the 8 Pygmy Cory and 2 Amano shrimp till I was sure.

Anyway, this is just a thought for now as I have 3 interviews next week so this might all just be academic

my female betta get on very well with platys, mollys, all sorts of corys and gold tetras. the gold tetra ignore the bettas and the bettas ignore them. actualy all different species ignore each other and swim around each other like they are ornaments or something.

i had neons in with my betta and no problems at all.

i was in a shop yesterday and there was a betta in with black phantom tetras and they were pullin him to pieces!! i let the shop owner know and he was moved.

anyway neons will be fine just go for it
