Hi , i aquired a new tank today about 10-15gallons , we're going to use it as a breeding unit or hospital tank . I have a pregnant guppie at the moment who is about to drop any day , should i put her in the tank alone or would she be better off in the community tank with the others ? I really want to keep some of the fry .

should i put her in the tank alone or with another female ? ( who is also pregnant but not as far along )

I usually let them give birth in the tank then catch the fry and move them to the tank, if the males are chasing her I would move her, make sure temp and ph are the same as the tank she is coming out of, good luck.

As long as you have plenty of plants (rooted and/or Floating) you can simply leave her in the tank and the fry will hide in them and be safe from being eaten. Yes one or two may die but simply keep a close eye on them and gently catch the fry with your net and place them in a breeder net or preferbly a smaller tank. I use a 2.5 gallon or my 5 gallon depending on the size of the brood.
