I started a 10g fish tank as only an aesthetic piece to my living room. Well, I ended up getting some great fish and liking the ability to customize the tank, so I decided to go a little bigger and get a 30g (not a huge improvement, but I can't fit anything bigger in my apartment.)
Anyway, please tell me if there is a flaw in my transfer:
1. New tank (scrubbed clean and rinsed with water only) filled with 37 lbs gravel, rinsed
2. Added ~20g fresh water
3. Added water conditioner (2 tsp as it called for 1 tsp/10g of water)
4. Added ich prevention liquid (20ml as it called for 1ml/g)
5. Started cycling the water using the filter from current fish tank
6. Added ~3g of current fish tank water into new tank
7. Started warming the water, as it cycles, to match temperature of current tank
-tomorrow-
(when new tank is the same temp as old tank)
8. Fill bucket with current tank water and fish
9. Transfer remaining current tank water to new tank
10. Add fish to new tank
Any feedback would really be appreciated. I was a really inexperienced tank owner and really just threw my first one together but I still have all the fish I bought over a year ago. I'm excited to give my fish a bigger home and make a nice aquarium.
Thank you.
