My goldfish tank temp is currently 23 degrees (warm i know, but i can't get the temp any cooler), and i want to know how warm my pond outside needs to be before its safe enough to move them outside. I live in Somerset in England, the weather has been generally been very pleasant recently over the last month or so apart from a random 5minute hail session the weather had yesterday.
The goldfish tank isn't overstocked or anything like that, so basically they can stay in there for as long as needs be, but i want to start a radical new re-arrangement of my fish tank stocking soon to make a better habitat for my hillstream loaches (their tank set up is adequate, but i keep on thinking that they'd probably enjoy any extra filter on top of the 800 litres worth power of filtration alaready in the tank), and to do this it would be an aweful lot easier if the old goldfish tank was free of the goldfish so i could move some of my current tropical fish in there.
So...What minimum temp does the pond need to be before i can move my goldfish into it? It isn't currently filtered, but i have the filtration for the pond and as soon as i know when would be a good or safe time to move the goldfish into the pond, i can get it up and running
