Hi everyone! Been awhile since I have been here. Very busy these days. I have a question though and I can't think of any place I would rather ask it.

I am thinking about closing my 10 Betta tank and moving my fish to my 75 gallon tank. I have only 3 cories in that big ole tank. Since they are bottom dwellers I don't think there should be problem

My question is this, what is the best way of doing this? I am thinking of netting my betta and putting him in a baggie. Then just letting him sit there in the water for about 30 minutes, like he was a new fish, and then releasing him into the 75 gallon.

His tank has just become ate up with cyano bacteria. I have no idea why. It has the same lights, the same amount of food, snails, floating and non floating plants, I do water changes, I clean the filter....etc etc etc. Nothing helps. I have had this issue before with the 10 gallon and I think it might be better just to close and give him a huge home.

He is now in a bag of water in the 75 gallon. He will love all that space I imagine.

He may not at first all that extra room can be scary, Is the tank planted? has it got some floating plants? how strong is the current from the filter?

I would also add more Cories.

Male bettas are not community fish, so I would suggest leaving him in the 10g alone. He will probably not appreciate tankmates now.

As for the cyano, that is caused by high organics in the presence of light. Persistence can eradicate it.

He seems to be happy in the 75 gallon. He does not seemed stressed at all. Has a lot of room to explore. It is pretty heavily planted. Lots of floating hornwort as well. I don't have any plans on adding more fish to the tank. The 3 cories have been there since about January, so almost a year. I had 6 but 3 didn't make it. The 3 left seem fine and the Betta does not seem to care if they are there or not and vise versa.
