In a few months, I will be graduating from my current school and most likely moving on to another one. The new school will be at least a 15-hour drive away, and the worst-case scenario is 40 or so hours. Naturally, I've begun to wonder how I am going to manage moving my tank and its inhabitants. Not only that, I am wondering how I am going to get the tank ready to go, so that all of my fish successfully settle in. I've been reading a bit about cycling, and I am becoming very discouraged. So, I wonder, has anyone had experience with a similar situation? Or heard anything? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

you will need a battery air pump to keep the filter bacteria alive for a start

I was planning on using a battery-powered air pump to keep the fish alive during the trip. Will doing so be sufficient to keep the bacteria in that same water alive for my start-up?

put the filter media in a bucket filed with tank water, place several airstones under the media and run 24hours a day this will keep the bacteria alive but only if you feed it with liquid amonia as if fishless cycling

as for the fish treate as if you where posting them, polyboxes with heat packs and amo lock in there water i would pack them seperatly as well

Thank you for the help! I know this is a stupid question, but what exactly would the filter media for my tank be? My filter cartridge?

all the sponges, rings, flos anything that you put inside the filter

You must never wash this stuff intap water
