Well we moved but I didn't let anyone touch the tanks. . .

I'm moving the bettas tonight and keep ya posted. . . :S (oh. . . how many bettas will I be moving??? 40+)

Jeez... that cannot be fun. :X Good luck with moving all the bettas!!

I moved twice in the past year, but luckily I only had one betta the first time and two the second. I'd hate to have to move now, lol!

Hope everthing goes well and all the bettas make it to there new home safely
In a few months i will be moving my 3 bettas. It will be 8 hours to there new home.

As someone who has moved her fish like 50 times, I have to tell you, I HIGHLY RECCOMEND my way of moving them.

Get medium sized plastic jars, I used peanut butter jars, with holes punched in the lid. Scoop each fish into his own jar, fill it about 3/4 full, and add whatever you like - bag buddies, java moss, etc.

Get fairly shallow boxes, that are a bit taller than your jars. Crumple up newspaper and cover the bottom. Place the fish in their jars on top of it. Stuff crumpled newspaper all around the jars - make sure there is newspaper separating each fish from any other fish, and every side it might touch. Pack it to a decent tightness. Close er' up.

This has been my favourite way to transport so far. At first I tried leaving them in their original tanks and lowering the water to halfway - this is not so good. The water sloshes around too much and the betta goes FLYING, and even worse the car might get all wet. It's a no-no.

Then I tried just putting them in jars, but they got scared because of all the commotion around them, and it would be hard to carry more than 1 jar around.

Finally, I decided it's best for the fish to put them in a padded box.

Good luck with moving them all!! :)

Lucky your new house is so close, you can make multiple trips without too much trouble... I'm gonna have to move all my crap at once :X
Good luck moving the saltwater, that's the one I'd be worried about!

The move went well. . . . now I just have the planted tank with the smaras and the salt water tank. . . . . thanks for all the support.

The fun part was the mahachai fry tank. They're shy buggers.

Synirr - I'm shipping your bettas out today!! :good:

Just some wilds pairs that I didn't have time to take care of anymore. . . brownorums, rajas, and coccinas.

Okay so the move went well - I did lose on mahachai baby but the rest look great!

Moving has made me realize - maybe I should have all these bettas.

Chrissy: thanks for the info--am moving soon and I was planning to try and anchor down the half full tank with fish inside it, into the car. Great idea, will start saving the jars now!

Glad the move went well, be sure to gimmi pics of the house once you have everything settled!! :D

Ha... yeah glad I came along, that is a bad idea, sends fish flying and gets the car wet. :S
