Well I recently got my own apartment and have pretty much fully moved in. The only big thing remaining are the tanks from my girlfriends house. I have a 20 long and a 29 gallon I need to move. The 20 gallon is set up but has no stock the the 29 gallon is running with stock. My issue is figuring out how to move everything. The stock of the 30 is:
5+ Coolie Loach
1 Keyhole Cichild
1 Opaline Gourami
2 Platy (both female)
1 Molly (female)
2 BN Pleco
I am thinking of moving the 20 gallon over and setting it up with the 29's media and stock until I get the means to move it. Issue is the 20 long has a stand the the 29 is set on a dresser which I dont have the means to move at the moment. It would be a few weeks to get the 29 moved with the dresser and I dont know how long the stock could hold its own in the 20. Also the 20 is using a Florite substrate which would likely harm the coolie and Loach. Any suggestions on how to deal with this?
Also I am kinda iffy on the 20 long since I had an issue first setting it up. I moved my 10 gallon puffer tank into it but after moving media and stock over the puffer died from ammonia poisoning even though the tank it moved from was fully cycled and I had no ammonia in the 20 gallon at ant given time. Since then I have just let the tank sit there running but snails seemed to grow and die over time in there (didnt bother to cycle it). The tank only has Florite substrate, few simple plants (amazon swords) and a large decor item that looks like a tree stump but isnt real. Other then that I have nothing out of the ordinary. Should I give it a try or just try to find some other means?
