Well i'd have to say the Dojo Loach!!! i don't think these guys can die from anything but old age !! lol !! there like the armor core of my tank! i love em! what do you think?? i'll put the most popular into a poll later! thanks alot! this should be interesting.......

My Glass Cats - Been thru Alot

Dude they took away the polls :-( . But I think that the most indestructable fish is the black tetra I means their so hardy they could live in gas, not really. And I've had bacteria and algae blooms and one of them jumped out of his cup when I was doing a water change and they are really, really hardy. Oh and the common pleco because mine survived also from the bacteria and algae bloom and he survived when he jumped out of the tank and was out of water for 10 minutes.

Goldfish if kept in the right conditions.

From the fish I've kept, I'd have to go with CAE.

Out of all of my fish I'd have to say my peacock eels are by far the most hardy fish I own.

A while ago I had an outbreak of whitespot in my tank which devastated alot of my other fish and caused a few casualties. The eels never showed any signs of illness and lived through the regular dosings as if nothing was going on. My oldest eel has taken a couple of flying leaps to the carpet, the longest of which was for at least 2 minutes before I could finally stick his squirming butt back into the tank. None of them are any worse for wear and are as healthy, fat and content as one could hope.

Out of all my eels, the only casualties I've ever had were from leaps out of the tank. My upside down catfish would be a close second though, they are another tough one ime.

The only zebra danio Ive lost in a year was one which got stuck in an ornament. Most of them have cycled 2 tanks.
Amazingly hardy fish imo.

Emperor Tangs. Survived total oodinium outbreak that wiped out the whole tank. Ammonia spike last year. I firmly beleive these fish are bullet proof once established.

Second that! Not many fish would survive a week in water below 18C because the heater had broken and we didn't notice ... oops.

Very strong fish indeed.

Paradisefish - can (theoreticaly of course) survive in gas and can also survive low temps... Very little can kill them and they are very resistant to disease. Still, it's three-spot gouramies that win this as far as I'm conserned - I've had many that have been through a LOT and are still perfectly healthy.

If we're counting coldwater fish I'd second the dojo loaches with white clouds (borderline tropical) and goldfish close behind.

My vote is the zebra danio. I think i broke ones back trying to net him (i felt like crap, still do). but hes still swimming like nothing happened. he still all crooked.

Danios are damn tough! I'm sure Wolf would agree.

I agree Danios are tough, but once way back when I first started keeping fish, I was dismantling a tank to sell before I moved to FL. I used to live in Wasthington state. I found a corydora who had been living IN the undergravel filter for 3 months. I gave him to LFS. Now, that's tough! Apparently, it must have swam down the uptake tube during a water change and spent it's time there and underneath. I can't believe it lived that long. I had removed what I thought was all the fish before, but I left the tank running so prospective buyers would see everything working. I guess it was enough to keep it alive. I honestly didn't think there was anything in there! So wierd. That is the big reason why I hate UGFs, I always think something's going to get stuck in there. :S

I'd like to see your theories on that lol, even though they are anabatoids that doesnt mean they can breath out of water for more than a short period of time, however much oxygen you are pumping in...

As for the most indestructable fish, possibly bettas, ive put them in virtually uncycled tanks and in un-heated tanks (not being evil honest!).
Other than these probably platies, they seem to be able to face anything and still seem happy as larry...

A special award goes to my Black Ghost Knife. It came in a batch of fish ordered in at work that had been sitting, delayed at heathrow for hours, so consequently when it was finally back at the shop and out of the box the water was discoloured and smelly due to fish waste! YUK! The other 4 that we ordered unfortunately died but i acclimatised mine slowly and he has picked up well, hes VERY active, never seen a knife fish with as much energy as him. Hes also decided he likes tetra prima alongside all the other things he gets a nibble of from time to time, (carnivore pellets, sinking wafers, whitebait, cockle, mussel & brineshrimp!)
