Ok well i'm in the process of setting up my Rio 125. It will be planted as much as I can/as much as the bulbs can handle.

I have seen on peoples aquariums pictures that some people have what looks to be a moss wall?

Is it just the case of hanging a bit of netting on the inside of the tank and attatch moss to and watch it grow?

If so what sort of netting is best to use? I plan on doing the 5-6 inches infront of the internal filter.

What is the best sort of moss? Java moss, xmas moss?

The moss available on ebay only comes in small quantities, is it still easy enough to get it growing from the small quantity?

Sorry about the lengthy questions, answers are much appreciated.

Thankyou,

Tim.

Only question that might not be covered is

The answer is yes. Infact the more lightly you spread it on your 'wall' it tends to grow faster. Technically it will take longer to get bushy. But the actual growth rate should be better. :)

with HC cuba its very doable!

for a carpet on the floor thats what i would use without a doubt!

then xmas moss on the side :)

Okay well i'll have a look on ebay, or if anybody on here can sort me some out i'll be willing to pay?

What lights are better for the plants? At the moment I have 1 daylight bulb and one fluorescent bulb, but I do have a spare daylight if this is better for the plants?

What do you mean by daylight and flourescent?

In theory they should both be flourescent.
And then you can describe them as daylight, moonlight, etc

By fluorescent I meant the bright blue one which makes the fish look a lot more colourful, and makes white things go a UV blue.

hmmm, the tube that makes things go a "uv blue" dosent sound too good, is it a marine lamp designed for coral growth, if so, not really recommended in a planted tank!

if you inject co2 and the lighting is sufficient!!!

ofc i was just saying the most suitable carpeting plant IMO.

ofc??? whats that mean?

its just thats its not at all suitable in a non co2 supplemented tank, the OP asked if could carpet on sand and while hc would be good for this, if it doesn't have the right conditions he'd totally be wasting his money buying that plant based on your advice!
