Moss & Interesting Plants?

I'm thinking currently on ways to make my tank look a lot more natural and interesting, i've got two pieces of wood in there at the moment, aswell as a coconut shell half dug into the gravel to make a cave.

Is it possible to get some sort of nice grass to "patch" over some of the tank gravel? I'm not sure how it works at all, i'd just like a nice natural look.

I'm going to be getting more plants aswell, but my LFS only seems to do the same 4 or 5 plants all the time. And i'd like a nice mix.

Is there anything else I should be doing with a tank with more than 5 plants in? I've got 3 currently.

My stocks will be around the following when full in a few months time;

2x Bulldog Pleco's
3-4x Platy's
6-8 Glowlight Tetras
6-8 Hatchets
3-4 Amano Shrimp
3-4 Cherry Shrimp

I'd have like to got a gourami or two aswell but I realise this would overstock my 120-130L tank.

I can't believe it, until earlier on today I didn't know you were meant to even "de-pot" plants when purchased, so i've de-potted all of mine and re-planted them in the gravel.

you dont have to de pot all your plants who told you that ? google the plant name and get the specific reqiurements for each plant you shouldnt be buying plants until you have done the homework on what you want i pm you a good place to look a bit erlier you should be able to get all the info you need there if not ask questions we are all always learning .

The guy at my LFS said all the plants they sold needed to be de-potted and planted directly into the gravel, otherwise they couldn't root properly and would not do too well.

Thanks for the site, had a look and it's a good one - I do however also like the advise of these friendly chaps and chapettes! It's the whole reason I use the forums (Not to say i'll IGNORE any sites given, lol).

all plants need de-potting, plants don't have pot in the wild do they. First you need to know whether you want to run C02 or just have a low tech tank. If you head over to the planted section of the forum, there is a good pinned post called PARC. Have a read of that and if you have any more questions post em in there and you'll get some good answers, just incase you get your thread lost in here.

im no expert look on the london one plants v fish in the journals it is me lol ive just sold nearly all my fish to start again to get the planting right ive got 100 plants and more bogwood arriveing by the weekend ,one thing i have learned you just cant buy fish or plants cause you like the look of them you have to make sure you get the rtght ones to suite your conditions .
