Moss Balls For Bettas?

if no sign of ich, then check him for velvet but shining a light on his with the tanlights out. it will appear as a gold dusting across his body. it is not easy to see under normal tanklights and often goes misdiagnosed. will usually give the same symptoms as ich without the white dots. in the meantime doa big waterchange with a good substrate clean.
cheers
I shined a flashlight all over him and there is one spot of pale coloring right under him (cannot tell if it's gold). It's around his ventral fins. This is the location of his body he's rubbing up against the substrate.

He's still acting this same this morning. Just floating, doing a bit of swimming, then rubbing the substrate.

sorry if this has been mentioned but moss balls are known as the undefeatable plant you can break one into a dousen peaces and in a couple of months youl have a bunch of minnie moss balls

replied in other post...keep an eye on his poop and check his anus for inflamation or redness...i do not suspect the lighter spot is anything sinister. could be normal coloration (the scalse are often lighter on the belly, and look much different with a flashlight then normal tank lights).
test your levels and big waterchange to start!
cheers

I'll continue watching him. I'm just going to do 100% water changes daily. I added more water and made sure it was the exact same temp before adding him back in. Also, water is still only at 50% it's normal level so he can reach the top more easily. Hopefully that doesn't stress him.

Is there any chance that Prime could have caused this? Over the last week, I switched from standard water conditioner to that.

Oh, also what about colored substrate? For all my tanks I used the smooth river gravel, but because this Betta is in my son's room, we put colored rocks in. I felt a bit unsure about them possibly being toxic. I'll change the substrate out tomorrow.

Well as long as the new coloured rocks you put in were specificallyfor aquariums I can'tsee there being a problem, I normally give any new gravel a very thorough wash before I put it in,then leave it in a bucket with water andsome dechlor and stir it around before I put it in :)
