Hi All, I'm taking my time planning my nano tank out. So am exploring plenty of options before i commit to buy.

I've decided to go with pale/white wood (from sea shore) well washed and the thinnes strips i can find (for verticle effect).

I'm going to be using white sand too and either white/light grey round pebles.

I'm planning on planting java fer/moss attached to the wood as per usual.

However, i love the 'lawn' effects you see, with riccia etc. but the reatachment/constant tidying is not ideal for me. So, I figured (after reading elsewhere about it) that if I took a piece of slate, and a hair net, cut open a moss ball and covered the moss (almost like felting) it would grow slowly but establish there?

I know the mossballs are 'algae' and that their biological design allows them to rise and fall in the water column etc. would the 'moss' establish, or would it (like Riccia, either 're-ball' produce new balls, or just disintegrate slowly etc?

Anythoughts? thanks!

Thats EXACTLY what I just did yesterday!!!! You can look at a few pics in my post below Titled, " Super Glue or 6Lb Test Fishing Line" ....... A few people tell me they have also tried this in the past but then had it fall apart on them! :shout: But I am not 100% sure if they used the real Marimo balls or the PetCo knockoff garbage which is Java Moss tied arounf styrofoam,,,,,,,,

EDIT:::: SPELLING :lol:

COOL! looks great :D I hope it stays attached. I'm going to try the same thing (I think) but using hair net, I think with enough ligh it will stay there, but can easily immagine it disintegrating! Hopefully not though!

Cheers!

Good Luck!!!!!! :good: Im hoping mine also stay put... I was thinking of using a hair net or a part of a loofa but I just did not want something that unsightly in the tank for a long time since Marimo balls are SLOOOOW growers.
