Moss Balls And Live Plants

How beneficial are these, I just put 5 in my tank today, I know they feed off nitrate but does it make a massive difference to the quality of water? This is the first tank I have made with only live plants.

Don't rely on them to control Nitrates. It is true that they feed off of them and absorb many other nutrients from the water column, usually enough for there not to be a need for fertilisers with normal light conditions. The tank, fish and you will benefit from their addition to your setup as they're far better than fake plants imo.
