I have just used thread to tie alot of java moss to bogwood in the hope of it growing. I ordered the moss on ebay and some of it looks a little brown but on the most it is green. How long should the moss take to attach on to the wood as I read to use thread as it degrades over time. I do not want it to degrade and find the moss has not attached and is all floating.
Also on the moss will the brown bits renourish and become green and thriving once more?

It is currently in my tank which I used a plant substrate (can not remember which one) so I do not need to add fert for a while but I am not adding CO2 at the moment. I can not afford a CO2 diffuser but I am looking at CO2 liquid drops. Would these benefit my live plants greatly?

This is my first time of making my own moss covered bog wood and I hope it grows so I can trim it and place it on other pieces and spread it around my tank. I have it in my main tank atm but once my shrimp tank is up and running it will reside in there.

Thankyou in advance for replies. :good:

Floating moss will not be a problem, it sinks. Your shrimp would love having a nice bunch of moss to cling to. In my tanks, I grow moss in almost all of them. It is very easy to grow and requires very little light with no artificial fertilizers. The only trouble I have had so far is that if I provide too much light I get algae. Algae does not work well with the moss because it is almost impossible to properly clean algae infested moss. I usually just give up and start a new clump of moss if I have been careless and let algae get a foothold.
This is a clump in my guppy tank.

I have never tried to tie it to an object so I can't say how that part will go.
