Im new on here and fairly new to fishkeeping in general. I can see this gets to be quite an addiction and I have already gathered 11 tanks and various other bits and bobs...

Anyway I currently have a red betta in an aquastart 320 and a 54 litre tropical community (no fish yet!) and im also looking after 2 goldfish at the moment in my Biorb Life 30.

Dan

Hey, Welcome to the forum.
Just a few questions (im a bit nosey).
Where abouts do you live?
Did you cycle your tanks?
Also, I think the biorb is to small for two goldfish (they require very big tanks.)

Heya and welcome. :hi:

Just a note that you might want to tell the owner of the fish you're looking after that only fancy goldfish are suitable for indoor fish tanks.
And they need a tank of around 80l for one. And 40l extra for each addition fish. So the ones you're looking after (if they're fancy) need 120l + to live happily for life.
Goldfish should live at least 10 years.
I also wouldn't look after them in a 30l tank even temporarily unless there was no other choice. If you have a 54l free for the time you're looking after the goldfish then I'd certainly put them in there instead.
Just some thoughts, and for all I know the fish are fancys and are only an inch big or something so will be fine temporarily in 30l. Also for all I know their main home is at least 120l and they may even be going into a pond eventually. Just thought I'd make sure all the bases were covered, just incase.

Morning and welcome

Thats a lot of tanks for 3 fish

Its going to be a lot of fun finding fish to fill them all :good:

I understand your thoughts about the goldfish biorb combo but its twice the size of the tank I received them in and they do seem alot happier and healthier now...

I dont really have the room for all the tanks so Im slowly tying to sell some. I have managed to get rid of 3 already, I hope to narrow it down to 4 max...

Currently having some trouble with algae/snails in my aquastart so my Betta is in his old 12 litre tank atm but ill do a seperate post about that in the plant section...

I'm glad to hear you've upgraded the goldfish from what was a 15l tank?
But just because it's better doesn't make it 'adequate', you have to remember that...
As you said they seem happier and healthier already, well trust me that long term their health will rapidly begin to degrade again.

How did you manage to accumulate so many tanks by the way?
I can barely find room for a second one! Hehe.

I hope to convince the owner of the goldfish to get a betta (and heater!!!) instead and let me find someone with a pond to rehome the goldfish...

all my tanks are small between 10 and 54 litres and were mostly bargains I couldnt resist.... im now realising its somthing im gonna have to learn to control

the 2 goldfish are now mine and are in a 3ft tank... soon hopefully to be rehomed in a Pond
