I has corals! :D I got an alveopora... I know they don't tend to do well in captivity long-term, but I am hoping. It should be alright for a good 6 months at least. Polyps aren't fully extended yet, I think I need more current (getting a powerhead once we get more in at work).

The anemone I love. He is digesting, and doing the cute curly tentacle thing he always does after a big meal.

Tube snail. This thing is really bizarre. He releases a strand of mucus, as you can see in the pic, which collects tiny particles of food from the water, then he reels it in and eats. There are stray mucus strands all over.

Random shell the mantis took in his burrow. I am still trying to figure out why. It is completely bare in there apart from this, as he has removed all rubble, and this shell was outside just yesterday. Decorating, maybe? It has never had anything inside it.

Oh... hi... just taking pics of your burrow, don't mind me.

Uh... getting a little too close, there.

Too close I said, TOO CLOSE!

...and colonial tubeworms in the brackish tank :)

Wow, that is one funky looking.. uhm.. er.. lil guy there! heh
It looks so natural and spiff! :good:

Wow, what SG is the brackish tank?

Great photos again!

You're cheating, you know that's too close to marine ;)
;)
What waspfish wants, waspfish gets. It is nice having it salty enough to support a cleanup crew, though. The macroalgae eliminates regular algae, too, which is fantastic for brackish!!!

are you not scared that he can break the glass on your tank? :p
Heck yeah I am!. He is being moved to a 40g acrylic very soon, I just have to find another tank to move its current inhabitants to first. He is well-behaved and not very aggressive for a mantis though, so honestly, I'm not losing sleep over it. He knows where the glass is and doesn't try to kill things though it, and just stays in his burrow most of the time anyway.

Very interesting, i may have to try some macro algea in my brackish tank which has utterly terrible algea problems, i fear the scats would make short work of any other forms of life though, if it cant get away then its food in their eyes. I had 17 blue legged hermits but they all vanished over a period of 6 months or so, i'm not sure if they are just short lived or if something ate them one by one.

Any chance of some more pictures of the brackish tank?

the mantis is stunning, are they the ones that have a force of a 22 calibre bullet or something when they ping their claw?

CFC, maybe you could try some nerite snails. Really good at eating algae.

Nice tank, corals and shrimp Synirr. Im jealous.

I tried, but only one came out worth a crap. The macroalgae refuses to stay put and all migrates to the center over time . Best thing about this tank is that it hasn't been algae scrubbed at all in about 3 weeks.

Yeah, that's what they say. It's only one or two species of smashers that get over 6" that are capable of that kind of force, though. I am getting an O. havanensis for a 5g nano tomorrow! :)
