i woke this morning to find one of my older fry had jumped out of the breeder trap. as i looked more closely i noticed we had alot more baby fry ive managed to catch 4 or 5 of them but im worried that there is 2 many in the bredder. im wondering if its worth getting a new smaller tank to put the fry in but im not sure. if any1 has ideas please let me no thanks

Which type of fish do you keep? How big is the breeder trap?

Until you give us more details cover thee fry trap with a bit of clingfilm so that they can't jump

yeah sorry i was a bit brief there. The fry are platies, its only a small breeder (about 30cm). my tank is only 30lt so i only got a small breeder trap. there is 3 fry that are nearly 3 weeks old and then ive got 6 new fry. Ive now found the lid to the breeder so ive put it on.

how long till they can go in the main tank?

The main tank question is mostly one of what fish you have in the main tank. If it is only platies, wait until the fry are about 15 mm and they should be fine.
As far as a grow out tank, I would be tempted to try to separate my fry from the adults if I had a 10 gallon, 37 litre, tank to put them into. Anything much less would be futile since they need room to grow.

ive got 3 platys, 2 zebra danios, 2 pearl danios, 3 bronze corys in my tank.

I would guess that the danios will pose a threat until your fry are at least 2 cm or even a bit more.

i bought a breeder net 2day and the fry love having alot more space, i should have bought 1 from the begining. I also find that the other fish are not as interested in the net. I now have plenty of room for my next lot of fry due next week.

My fry are growing so much quicker in the breeder net i cant believe it.
