ok firstly, i like my snails, will some MT snails be ok with discus? what about an apple snail?

also wondering about yamato shrimp

i've decided that the definates are gonna be 6 discus, 6 sterbai cory, 2-3 german blue rams and a small shoal of black neons (8-10)

Discus love sharing a tank with shrimps, always a handy snack! They will gobble them up if they are large enough, invertebrates are part of their natuarl diet.

Snails should be ok but bear in mind a dead snail means toxic water.

what size tank is this planned for? Is it already cycled? You woul want a tank that has been running with fish for about five months at least, then try the blue rams, if they do ok for two months or so you should be ok to add Discus but make sure they are all around the same size or you will have major bullying problems.

i got the tank, however i'm spending a fair bit of time planning it and using it as a plant development tank (high co2, low o2 plus ferts), i'll be planting it out heavily from the beginning and doing a fishless cycle, then adding, in this order, 5 black neons, wait a week then 5 more, leave it for a couple of months then add the rams, then eventually add the discus...

so if i were to add a few amano shrimp, they'd just get eaten?!?!
