Hi,

Well I've searched the forums and found that there is no good information about this wood (mopani)
Everything is conflicting.

I have nought two peices of monapi for use in my future rainbow snake head tank. I am going to start soaking them today. I have bog wood in my other tanks, and one tank doesn't have any leeching where as the other tank (my polypterus tank) has a lot, even though I did saok the wood, lol.

Some people have said it doesn't leech much, others have said it leechs more than bogwood.

So this is what I want to know:

- Does it leech a lot or not?
- Does it alter PH the same as bogwood does?
- how should it be soaked, in hot water, cold water or boiled? (me cant boil it)

As for the boiling I've read it make the wood fall apart, which is something I have seen happen in my Polyterus tank, as the wood flakes a lot.

Thanks in advanced,

(/me hopes people dont conflict again on this subject)

I agree with sam, i have both bogwood and Mopani and find that Mopani leaches very little and doesn't affect the Ph too much. This makes sense because it is much harder than bogwood and doesn't break down in the same way.

SO I can just set the tank up and put the wood in straight away?

I gave mine 1 good rinse/clean in hot water and then straight in. The bogwood I soaked for about a week.
