One of my moonlight gourami died yesterday for no apparent reason.I would like to know whether the other one can be happily kept on its own?Have tried googling but cant find an answer.

Is it a male or female and how big is it?

Males do fine on their own but most females appreciate company. Note I said 'most' females - not all. If it is indeed a female and she isn't yet fully grown, getting her a couple of (female) friends would probably be beneficial. Try to get moonlights of a similar size. If, on the other hand, she is mature, she probably won't appreciate intruders - at least not at first. If you do want to add some more, make sure they are the same size and re-arange the tank before introduction. Also, whether she enjoyed the company of her old tankmate or not may be an indicator for how she would behave with new additions or if she would preffer to remain solitary. You know your fish better than I do :).

TA for the reply.
The reason I asked in the first place was that I never noticed any interaction between the two therefore I would prefer to keep just the one if it didnt adversly affect it.
Thanks jollysue.Found my moonlights to be anything but the timid fish they are supposed to be.Unfortunately the odd loss is part and parcel of fishkeeping
