I was thinking about getting a moon light for my tank wondering if it would be ok in there with the fish i have.
I dont see why it wouldn't be ok but ive not long been keeping fish and better to be safe than sorry

At the moment my tank is 60L
ive got
10 neon tetra (babies)
6 swordtails
2 clown loaches
1 pleco
1 male betta

will they all be fine if i have one?

ok cheers

and as for being overstocked the bloke at the shop said it would be fine aslong as i do water change like every week and all the fish i have are babies and once the loaches and pleco get too big will go downstairs in my bigger tank this is the one in my room

stocking is really up to you. The pleco will get too big as well and betta is not really suited for that tank. Just be aware the higher the waste load the more stress on the fish and the less stable the tank. You need to do 50% water changes weekly at the very least, but I would still watch out. The slightest issue will wipe out at least your neons, from my experience.

Make sure the moonlight is not too bright too keep the fish awake at night.

agree, nothing wrong with moonlights for fish -- personally I'm a believer in fish getting to have nice inky blackness probably a majority of nights to help mirror the black still nights they'd get in nature, but even in nature that's not all the time!

Don't see why the moonlight would be a problem, as long as it isn't too bright and they do get some nights without it. No reason you couldn't have it on before you go to bed (but after the tank lights go out) and then turn it off when you go to sleep.

Gotta point out though - tank is overstocked. It's not so much a matter of filtration and keeping the waste down (but obviously that is a very important thing). With the best filtration in the world your tank still needs to be big enough for the fish you have, which yours isn't.

10 x neon tetra are doable.

Swordtails should really have a bigger tank. They can get to just shy of 5 inches and need a tank that is closer to 3 foot long.

Clowns need huge tanks - 6 foot plus - and should be kept in groups (not single or pairs).

Plec might be OK but could very easily be a common, sailfin or gibbiceps plec. These guys also need 6 foot tanks.

Tbh, it doesn't really matter whether they are all babies or not. Unless you have a 6 foot tank you're going to need to rehome quite a few of these guys.

Overstocked tanks need larger water changes (about 50% a week) and the fish are more prone to disease and stress. Not to mention that some of these guys will not have enough space to swim when adult.
