Moody Swordy

One of my navy blue female swordies has been acting moody for the last 2 days....this morning she stayed in the one spot in the tank and would chase off the male yet let the platy female go near her. So tonight when I got home I was very eager to check her....yup...still moody AND....revelation.....FAT!!! VERY fat!!!

I cannot see a gravid spot obviously but it is SOOOO obvious that she is pregnant....I am surprised I didn't notice it before. So I promptly moved her to the 10gal nursery/birthing tank where she is being left alone by the guppies....

I have never had swordy fry before so I am pretty excited....I hope it is soon....I hope she is OK.....EEEEEKK!!!!

Just had to tell you peeps....the BF doesn't care....

EDIT: The other navy blue swordy, still in the 6gal, is also pregnant...though not as far along

I'm so excited for you! I can't wait to hear what she has! Keep us posted! Do you have lots of cover in her tank for the babies to escape to? Are there guppys in the tank with her? I'm not sure I'd trust the guppys to leave her babies alone...

Bad news.....she died last night...I retrieved her from the tank and it looked like she was "bulging" around the vent....which made me think that perhaps the fry got stuck

SOOOO sad....it would've been the fry from my juvie male swordy cause I have had her just over 4 weeks....

I thought about doing an autopsy to see if there were fry but I couldn't being myself to do it.....

I am very sad now.....

Angry Platy im sooooo sorry that ya gal passed on!!!! My swordie very preggie too and still hasn't dropped grrrr if she hasn't dropped by thursday i will move her to a new separate tank that im getting on thursday as it wont take long to set up!!! As i'm sick of losing them to the danio's no wonder they are so fat!!!
