What is the best thing to feed my baby cockatoos? If they make it, they will be my first babies aside from my guppies (past and present). Is there some kind of food I squirt in and they just kind of eat it as they gulp water?

I would go with BBS ( Baby Brine Shrimp). I buy it frozen for about 2 dollars a block ( E 1) and it probably feeds for half to 3/4 a week. What i do is i break some off,a nd put it in a cup for it to thaw out and fall tot he bottom, then i use a medicine syringe and suck it up and squirt it in the water, and they eat that, feed them it atleast 3 times a day. It is known for making baby fish grow extremely fast.

Thank you, you've been very helpful with all my questions.

Your welcome =]

It now seems that mom is not caring for the eggs, 2 are now white, she's flirting with the male, and she's not spending near the amount of time in the cave that she use too. What should I do? Can I move the eggs and still get them to hatch? Will she eat the babies onced hatched if I leave them in the tank? Please someone help!

I would defo take the eggs and put them in another tank. Take a little piece of plastic ( such as a credit card) and gently flake off the white ones, and make sure you get some methylene blue in there, and a good old air stone.

Will it hurt to leave the white eggs? They are super close to the pink ones.

The white eggs have fungus on them, and the fungus will spread, meaning more white eggs. Thats why the parents should remove them.

A pin works well for removing white eggs, you can get the close ones this way if you are inclined to do so.

The white ones with fungus are usually attacked by bacteria first. Bacteria is faster growing than fungus, the fungus is secondary. Fungus generally will not spread to viable eggs, bacteria can. This is why cleanliness is important in a hatching situation. I don't try to remove white eggs from angel spawns, and have eggs that are right next to fungused eggs hatch out just fine.

Sometimes parents need a few tried to get things right, sort of like first time parents compared to parents having their third kid. I lucked out with my apistos, they got it right from the start.

When hatching spawns, knowing that bacteria can be a problem, I've found adding a couple things besides meth blue helps. I go with 7 drops per gallon meth blue, 3 drops per gallon Maroxy, and a drop or two per gallon acriflavin. I start with 50% daily water changes on the fourth day after spawning.

Well, I've got babies now and I started a post about them. How many do your's usally have hatch? Thanks for the info, I'll be sure to look into.

I got about 40-60 fry per spawn when I was doing them almost 2 years ago. A friend of mine picked up on them when I was done, he gets about the same.

So is 32 fry a good number for the second spawn? This is her first to make it past eggs. And there may be more in the tank, I'm looking every few hours.
