I have had two black and silver mollys for about 6 months and they have been doing fine until recently when the larger female started picking on the smaller female. I also have a pleco in the tank with them and some other fish to but the molly only seems to be messing with its kind. For the time being I have put the injured molly in a seperate tank hoping it would get better. The molly has part of its tail fin missing and its eye is a little puffy, what should I do. This is the first time I have incountered a problem with female mollys fighting. Please help!

If the eye is getting puffy, i would be worried about the injured molly getting a bacterial infection known as pop eye.

As for the agression, you could add more mollies to spread out the agression (make sure they are larger). Another thought is are you sure the injured molly wasn't sick to begin with? Fish often pick on weak and injured fish.

I had a real aggressive sailfin molly (well it had a big dorsal anyway) :shifty: Was told by LFS that it would settle down once it had established itself. Well, it just about p****d everything else off in the tank so it went back. The first and only time I've done that but for the sake of harmony it was the only option :good:

I know the smaller molly was fine before and i also watched the bigger molly attack the smaller one and i tried seperating them and that was when i put them in seperate tanks. Is there any way i can prevent pop eye so hopefully the fishy will get better.
