Hiya, i know this is the wrong place but i posted in livebearers and got no replies, in my tank that we bought at the weekend 2nd hand with the fish included, we have 2 mollies, they are quite large, almost 3 inch, the female (white one) appears quite heavily pregnant and she is constantly chasing the poor male.. i'm beginning to think i am going to have to seperate them? I'm SO glad that i bought the fish tank from these people, they had no idea about what fish to keep together, ratios etc. Would introducing another female help? Thing is, the mollies you see in LFS's are tiny young ones, these ones are huge!

Advice needed asao! I don't want to find one of these fish dead :\

Hi...

How big is your tank?
What else is in there?
Do you have another tank to put fish IF you ever needed to seperate?

With Mollys being a livebearer there is always the need to correctly keep the ratio best suited to your tank, but whatever else you have in the tank may have a say in what else you can currently put in.

I think i'm above quota at the moment, this tank had a lot of fish in and i had to include mine too...
My original fish:
10 Neon tetra
3 Male Guppies
1 Panda Garra (i know, perhaps unsuitable but he is a happy little fella at the moment!)

The new additions in 80l tank:
5 cherry barb
4 White cloud mountain minnow (2 gold 2 normal)
1 male molly
1 female molly
1 male betta
2 black widow tetra
1 common plec (we are looking for a new home for him)
1 Khuli loach

TBH i don't know what to do for best with this tank and the fish in it!

and no i don't have another tank, i will have to find them new homes.

I would do just that in all honesty. What i would say is the behaviour of your Mollys really is the least of your worries at the moment, and until you can find someone to take some of these fish off your hands then there is potential for all sorts to happen in your tank.
Contact local fish stores in and around your area, have a scroll through the relative section of this forum (possibly see if there is anyone in your area looking for fish), maybe even find out if there is a local tropical fish hobbyist club in or around your area.

All the best with it.

Terry.
